Who is this course for?
This course prepares learners to work with children between birth and five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years. This qualification is suitable for a range of learners from the age of 16 onwards who have little or no experience in childcare.
What do you need to apply for the course?
At least 4 GCSE’s at grade D or above including English and maths along with a satisfactory DBS clearance check.
Please note the new grading system for GCSE maths and English from 2017 will be numbered 1 to 9, 9 being the highest. Grade C or above will equate to Grade 4/5 or above.
What are the key things you'll learn?
During the course you study how children develop, how to keep children safe, how to communicate with children and adults and how to support children’s play.
How you will learn
The course is taught with a mixture of theoretical study in the classroom and practical study including 250 hours of work experience on placement with children up to seven years.
Where could this course take you?
This qualification allows progression on to the CACHE level 3 Early years Educator qualifications and other Level 3 qualifications relating to child care.
