What’s it all about?

Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you will have the skills and knowledge of health and safety, customer care, assisting with shaving and styling services required for you to be employed as a barber.

You will develop study skills and the resilience to learn, improve and master the skills required to be an advanced barber in this exciting and thriving industry.

You will be required to attend an interview prior to enrolling on this course.

You will need to be motivated to achieve this qualification, be driven to be successful and be willing to work independently, as well as be willing to self-study. You will be required to meet deadlines and revise for exams.

Each unit will be practically assessed whilst learners work on clients in the salon session, during which they will be supervised and supported throughout. Oral assessment is also used to support practical and written evidence.

We a have a number of links within industry, including organisations such as Whal, Andis Barbering and Master Barbering qualifications.

This Level 2 Barbering course aims to provide you with a range of technical and practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the barbering industry.

This course is aimed at you should you wish to become a barber working with clients in a commercial salon.

You will study modules including:

- Barbering consultation services
- Fulfil salon reception duties
- Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
- Shampoo condition hair
- Style men's hair
- Cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques
- Cut a range of facial hair shapes
- Create basic outlines and detail hair
- Assist shaving services

What’s next?

After successfully completing the course you could apply your skills to find work in the beauty industry or progress on to a Level 3 Beauty Therapy course, within the general route or spa.
