What’s it all about?

This course is for people who wish to further skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to make a real difference nationally and in local communities with a successful career in the public services sector.

You must have achieved at least 48 UCAS points or have extensive, relevant work experience. GCSE / Level 2 maths and English is preferred.

19+ please enquire You will need to provide your own stationery. You could purchase books from the recommended reading list, however, they are available to borrow from our learning centre. You could have the opportunity for relevant trips though none are mandatory.

All teaching will take place in the classroom, field trips and work-based learning. You will be assessed by a variety of methods, including reports, interviews, presentations and academic posters.

This qualification aims to equip you with the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviour necessary in a variety of public service roles.

You will study a variety of topics on this course:

Unit 1: Organisational Structure and Culture - 15 credits Unit 2: Mental Health and Wellbeing - 15 credits Unit 3: Equality, Diversity and Fair Treatment - 15 credits Unit 4: Public Services in Contemporary Society (Pearson set) - 15 credits Unit 7: Law and Legal Systems - 15 credits Unit 12: Responding to Emergencies - 15 credits Unit 16: Training for Fitness and Health - 15 credits Unit 27: Psychology of Behaviour - 15 credits


What’s next?

You could progress to a HND Public Services, and onto a BA (Hons) top-up degree in a related subject to gain a full honours degree, or you could pursue employment in Civil Protection, Crime and Criminal Justice, Public Service Management or the Blue Light Services. For example, you could become an Officer in the Armed Forces, a Police Officer, or work in Fire & Rescue, Ambulance, Prison and related services, among many more.
