You will need two GCSE at grade 4 or above, including English Language and preferably Maths, to enrol on this course. You will also need to complete a practical skills assessment.

You will have an excellent experience and benefit from practical and theory lessons taught from an industry perspective to prepare you for the world of work on completion of the course.
During practical lessons you will develop your skills in our state-of-the-art industry salons using the most up to date professional products and equipment to meet industry standards.
In theory lessons you will develop your knowledge in our dedicated theory rooms by doing individual and group work, research tasks, assignments and revision tasks in preparation for completing online exams.
During the course lecturers will assess your knowledge and skills in a range of different ways to ensure you are making progress and additional support is available if needed.
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career.
If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/or English at school, we will support you to develop and improve your skills.
You will be required to work 1 day a week in our commercial beauty salon to develop and gain industry skills. This will be in addition to your timetabled hours.
You will have the opportunity to attend master-classes, listen to guest speakers from industry, participate in competitions - both in-house and externally - and also take part in external trips and visits.
We have a number of links with industry, including Dermalogica skin-care, Sienna Tanning, Steiner Cruise Liner, as well as spas and salons within the local area. This will ensure you gain an outstanding learning experience with us and are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to progress to a career in industry.
Previous learners have benefited from attending Professional Beauty Manchester, workshops online and at the Dermalogica Training Centre, where they have had the opportunity to learn new advanced skills and gain spa experience.
This course will take place Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm, including one late night per week until 8pm where you will be required to work in our commercial salons at City Campus to gain experience of working in a busy salon environment.
You will study in college and will also be expected to study independently outside of the classroom to build your knowledge and skills in beauty therapy.
This is a full-time course based at City Campus and your timetable will be issued at the start of term.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in regional and national skills competitions to showcase your talents, as well as opportunities to attend workshops for you to gain the most up to date practical skills to meet current industry trends.
You can progress to the Level 3 Beauty Therapy following the successful completion of a dexterity and skills assessment carried out at end of the Level 2 Programme.
There are many career opportunities for beauty therapists, including working in a salon or in self-employment.
