The travel industry is constantly changing and developing despite setbacks, it is predicted to employ approx 3.7 million people in the UK within the next 5-10 yearsand there are opportunities available for various careers.
The course will introduce you to the travel and tourism industry. It is designed for anyone who wants to learn and continue to develop their interest in the ever-changing industry. If you love travelling, enjoy researching holidays or just want to learn about the sector this course can offer you an insight.
You will participate in external UK trips and visits and have guest speakers attend to give you an insight into the different travel and tourism industries.
You will have a minimum of a grade 3 in at least 3 GCSE (or equivalent) subjects including GCSE English language and maths or you will have achieved a pass in level 1 introduction to travel & tourism.

The course is assessed via a mixture of online tests and course work which may involve presentations, written work or practical assessments. Topics covered include customer service, travel planning, UK & worldwide destinations and retail travel services.
You will have at least a grade 3 in Maths and English Language, which can will re-sit whilst completing your travel and tourism programme
We have links with DFDS, Jet2, Hilton Hotel, Beamish Museum, Hays Travel, Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley Airport, as well as many other companies.
You will be expected to complete additional self-study in your own time.
City & Guilds
The course is delivered on a set timetable, Monday - Friday between the hours of 09.00 - 17.00. A full timetable will be provided at the beginning of the course.

- Worldwide travel and tourism destinations
- UK travel and tourism destinations
- Retail travel services
- Travel planning
- Principles of customer service in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism
City & Guilds
Following the completion of this course, you could progress to a Level 3 travel and tourism programme, or gain employment in the travel and tourism sector.
