Who is this course for?
The Certificate in Dignity and Safeguarding is ideal for anyone working or hoping to work in adult health and social care. This course will enable you to identify safeguarding issues, and uphold excellent standards of care provision for vulnerable adults. It also has relevance to all types of care settings, including hospices, care homes, care in the community and primary care.
This course is also appropriate for those who have already achieved other sector-specific qualifications in the health care sector and need expand the knowledge and understanding of dignity and safeguarding.
What do you need to apply for the course?
Learners wishing to undertake the certificate should be aged 19 or over. You will need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in literacy as you will be expected to write answers for assessment purposes. To assist in the delivery and understanding of this qualification, candidates should have access to details of a work environment in a health and social care setting.
What are the key things you'll learn?
This course is split into four manageable units:
- Understanding safeguarding in health and social care
- Principles of dignity in adult health and social care practices
- Understanding duty of care in adult health and social care
Understanding dilemmas and public concerns in adult health and social care
How you will learn
You will be allocated your own study pack and have a personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate our knowledge. You will be required to complete six units through written assessment; also available with online assessment.

After successfully completing the course candidates will be able to further their own continuous professional development, which may improve their career prospects or progress to further training. You could also progress on to further study in the field or other Distance Learning programmes.
