Who is this course for?
This course is ideal if you enjoy art and design and in particular, fashion and textile related projects, and are looking for a pathway to higher level courses and a range of potential future careers in textiles, surface pattern and fashion.
What do you need to apply for the course?
You’ll need a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade C or above, one of which should be an Art and Design subject.
What are the key things you'll learn?
You will explore a range of subjects over the two years including:
• Fashion design
• Pattern cutting
• Garment construction
• Professional portfolio development
• Experimental textiles
• Printed, embroidered and constructed textiles
How you will learn
You will be taught to develop practical and skills and knowledge in fashion and textile areas through lessons taught in specialist studios. The course will involve visits to regional and national exhibitions shows and galleries where you will study and record the work of various fashion designers, craftspeople, artists and designers.
Where could this course take you?
After successfully completing the course you will have a wide range of choices to take your passion further. You could continue your studies at university and specialise in a specific subject area of fashion and textiles or you could find employment in fashion or textile related industries.
What costs will you incur?
There will be some cost involved. You can purchase a basic textile starter kit though the college at the beginning of the course.
