Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone interested in pursuing a career in professional cookery or the hospitality industry.

What do you need to apply for the course?

You will need a strong desire to succeed, a keen interest in the subject and a positive outlook. Ideally, you will have an English language GCSE at Level 4 or better and ideally, a GCSE maths at Level 3.

What are the key things you'll learn?

You will learn a range of skills and techniques for working in a professional kitchen. These will include safe working practices, health and safety and the different tools and equipment you will find. You will also learn a range of cooking methods such as boiling, poaching and steaming, baking and roasting, deep and shallow frying and the production of cold food items.

How you will learn

All of your learning will take place between theory, practical sessions and shifts in our training restaurant. All sessions are designed to enhance your skills throughout.

Where could this course take you?

The course could take you straight into industry at an appropriate level or on to study a Level Two Diploma in Professional Cookery.

What costs will you incur?

Cost for all kit, front and back of house as well as knives is currently around £150. There will be additional, optional costs throughout the course for external trips and visits.
