Who is this course for?
This qualification is suitable for learners aged pre-16 and above. This qualification is ideal for students who wish to develop an understanding of photographic processes and the photo-image industry. The qualification aims to support you to progress either into employment or onto further qualifications.

What are the key things you'll learn?
This qualification is aimed at students wishing to develop an understanding of photographic processes and the photo imagingindustry. The qualification allows you to understand and
develop skills enabling them to take and manipulate images using a range of equipment, techniques and image processing software. the opportunity to explore in detail the following areas of
photography: dark room, studio, location, commercial, documentary and experimental and alternative processes. You will also gain knowledge and understanding of the
different roles and employment opportunities available within the photo imaging industry. You will gain a basic understanding of the legislation relevant to photographic practice, including copyright, intellectual property and photographers rights. This qualification consists of 3 core units, of which the learner will complete 2.
You must also choose at least one unit from the following optional units
• Darkroom processing and printing
• Studio photography
• Location photography
• Commercial photography
• Documentary photography
• Experimental and alternative process photography
How you will learn
You will attend weekly sessions, working through a series of practical experiments and techniques, building on each new skill. You will create a portfolio of work, which is submitted for your final assessment. There is no formal examination but you will have small amounts of homework throughout the course.

What costs will you incur?
You will be advised at the beginning of the course you will need and a file for keeping your written work or a sketchbook to create a journal. Course fee £200.
