Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for you if you would like to develop your knowledge and understanding of substance misuse and/or are looking to gain employment in a supporting role linked to substance misuse or rehabilitation work.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. You will need to attend a course induction to obtain course information and to complete initial assessments and necessary enrolment documents.

What are the key things you'll learn?

The Level 1 Award in Awareness of Substance Misuse allows the you to develop knowledge and understanding of substance misuse and its potential effects on individuals and others.

You will learn about a range of substances that are commonly misused and the possible reasons why, the personal and social effects of substance misuse, perceptions of and responses to substance misuse and ways to promote healthy choices and how to build resilience.

How you will learn

You will learn through a combination of classroom-based activities, theory based learning and practical learning activities.

Where could this course take you?

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to Level 1 or 2 qualifications in Health, or Health and Social Care. It may also be useful to those studying qualifications in the following sectors: Counselling, Childcare, Education, Housing, Sport and Recreation, Community Work, Youth Work and Voluntary.
