Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone aged 14-25 who would like to take proactive steps for their future development within education, the wider community and the workplace. Courses are offered at Entry 2 and 3, and Level 1 and 2.
What do you need to apply for the course?
There are no required qualifications for this course, however you will need to be willing to participate in new subject areas and be considerate towards others in the group.
What are the key things you'll learn?
You will be involved in a number of character building activities in a challenging yet encouraging environment. You will also be given the opportunity to develop key social skills such as team work, problem solving and communication whilst gaining skills and knowledge that will help you succeed in further education, the wider community and into the workplace. Extended vocational tasters and work placements will be offered to encourage you to explore your potential career pathways and you will also be supported through literacy and numeracy sessions. You will also be encouraged to participate in a number of enrichment activities that may ultimately lead to a residential programme.
Some programmes are offered in the community to specific groups of learners such as young mums.
How you will learn
You will work through a number of portfolio based assignments that may be assessed through observations, presentations, photographs and completion of activities.
Lessons will be delivered from a base classroom with some units requiring delivery in the local community as part of enrichment activities or as part of a work placement.
Vocational tasters will be assessed in a workshop or in a real working environment.
Where could this course take you?
The Pathways Programme is designed to explore a number of vocational and academic subjects to support you in deciding your future pathway whilst gaining the literacy and numeracy skills needed for progression, which may involve future college programmes or full time employment.
