Engineering students had the opportunity to complete a work placement with Unipres to help them prepare for their future careers and to boost their CV. The Unipres Industrial Cadets programme, which is accredited with an Industrial Cadets Silver Award, encourages students to acquire and develop a range of skills and competencies including creativity, innovation, problem solving, teamwork, communication and career awareness. The students are also given an Industrial Cadets Network card, which gives them an exclusive access to the Online Network; an online platform designed to connect them with employers and other cadets, providing learners with further enrichment and information, access to job opportunities, events and advice and links to further training, helping the selected students to further develop skills and pursue a rewarding career path. Eve Thompson, Employment Broker at Sunderland College, said: “We have had 10 students complete the programme so far and a further 10 going to Unipres next month. Becoming an Industrial Cadet is an important achievement that will ensure our engineering students stand out from the crowd when applying for a job or further study.”
