Talented Hairdressing, Barbering and Media Make Up students from Sunderland College are heading to the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Finals after winning four awards in the regional heats.
The team faced strong competition from a number of North East Colleges at Gateshead’s Federation Brewery and were rewarded with top three finishes in the Ladies Cut and Blow Dry, Creative Cut (Gentlemen) and Gender Transformation categories.
Students Melisa Croft, Courtney Alberts, Musharraf Rofik and Owen Crossly will now showcase their talents at the AHT national finals in Blackpool.
After being awarded first place in the Creative Cut (Gentlemen) competition, Owen said:
“I am really happy and proud to have won the competition. I can’t wait for the national finals in March.”
Mark Sowerby, Lecturer in Barbering, added:
“All of our learners did very well and their work was of a very high standard. This AHT competition is the biggest in the North East and is a fantastic opportunity for students from across the region to demonstrate the skills they have gained.”
