Ice Bucket Challenge

Sunderland College staff are now officially cool as ice after completing the ice bucket challenge to raise money for charity.

Fourteen brave and willing members of staff took the plunge after Sunderland College was nominated to carry out the chilly challenge by South Tyneside College.

The volunteers had ice water thrown over them by helpful colleagues who wanted to make sure each and every one of them was covered head-to-toe in freezing water!

College staff carried out the challenge in memory of their colleague Wayne Hedley, who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year, and all funds raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The ice bucket challenge is sweeping the nation with a whole host of celebrities, famous figures and members of the public pouring ice water over themselves to raise cash for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support and ALS (motor neurone disease).

Sunderland College has now nominated Sunderland University, East Durham College and New College Durham to complete the ice bucket challenge – you have 24 hours!
