Sports Development Centre welcomes fourth international player

Talented footballer Omar El Shenteinaway has become the Sports Development Centre’s fourth international student.

Omar recently moved from Toronto in Canada to study Level 3 Sport, alongside the elite Football Development Centre delivered by Improtech Soccer at Sunderland College.

He said:

“The main reason I came to the Football Development Centre at Sunderland College was to develop my football skills and to follow my dream of becoming a professional footballer.”

Craig Clark, Progression Tutor at Sunderland College, has been supporting Omar’s transition to college life. He said:

“Omar has settled very quickly into life at Sunderland College and we hope to see him develop and progress during his time here.”

John Rushworth, Faculty Direct for Sport, Health and Wellbeing at Sunderland College, said:

“The elite coaching offered by ex-professional footballer Martin Scott and his Improtech coaching team will support Omar with his ambition to become a professional football player.

“Alongside his football training, Omar will also receive personalised strength and conditioning through our resident Elite Strength and Conditioning Coach, Martin Nugent, and will compete in the highest level of post-16 leagues.”
