Sunderland College digital students were recently given the chance to take part in a week long work experience at Tombola headquarters.
This immersive industry experience is part of the new Tombola Academy initiative to provide a pipeline of talent for their degree level apprenticeship programme. The students developed their skills in a real life working environment and were grouped together in teams to create a new game concept for the company. At the end of the week’s placement, the groups were then tasked with presenting their game concept back to staff at Tombola.
At the end of their week with the Tombola development team, the students pitched their game concept in the hope that they will be offered a place on the higher degree apprenticeship programme.
Jonathan Greenwell, Sunderland College Computing Lecturer said:
“The week was highly successful with all learners gaining vital experience in a corporate environment, creating some great game concepts and integrating well with the staff at Tombola. We are so grateful to have this fantastic partnership with a leading Tech sector employer, it was an inspirational experience for all.”
The college wishes each digital student good luck and looks forward to Tombola announcing who has been selected for the higher apprenticeship programme.
