Salon Professional students take part in AHT North East Heats

Sunderland College Level 2 and 3 barbering, hairdressing and media make-up students recently attended and took part in the association of hairdressers and therapists north east heats competition.

The association was founded in 1963 by a group of hairdressing teachers as a national network of like-minded specialists who exchanged good practice and support. Members are teachers, trainers or assessors of hairdressing or therapy subjects, who hold or are working towards teaching/assessing qualifications.

The students took part in a number of activities including Mens Barbering Cut & Finish, with student Halo Hoda finishing 2nd and Galip Koc finishing 3rd. Student Laura Beth finished 2nd in the Ladies Commercial Blow Dry and Finish. Lonela Bratu won the Ladies Commercial Cut and Blow and Halo Hoda came 3rd place in the Gents Barbering Commercial Free Style Creative Designs

Mark Sowerby, Sunderland College Lecturer in barbering said:

“I am so very proud every student from our college who competed in the competition, they put the skills they have learnt in the salon to the test and excelled. We can’t wait to travel down to the finals next month!”

All of the students will represent Sunderland College in the National Finals at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on the 11th of March.
