Sunderland College recently welcomed year 7 students from Dene School, Kepier Academy and The Academy at Shotton Hall to join them for an exciting Discovery Day at both Bede and City Campus.
The day was designed for students to take part in a range of sessions around the college so they could explore future career options and gain a small taster in a variety of different industries.
From bricklaying, hairdressing and cooking up tasty burgers in the state of the art facilities at City Campus, to Game Design and Photography at Bede Campus, the year 7’s were inspired to start thinking about their career options and became more aware of the industries and sectors the students could get into in the future.
Jessika Coates, Sunderland College Recruitment and Engagement Officer said:
“It was lovely to welcome students from Dene, Kepier and Shotton Hall to our college. The students were a pleasure to show around and they really engaged well with the sessions we had planned for them. I hope we have inspired them to start thinking about what pathway they could take in the years to come. We look forward to welcoming them all back soon!”
The college continues to develop their partnerships with local schools in the area, informing students of the career pathways they can take and the options they have when it comes to leaving school.
