Veterinary nursing is a specialised field that requires a deep understanding of various medical procedures for animals with unique physiologies. Due to its complexity, the progression path in this field differs from most, but it offers tremendous rewards for those passionate about animal care.
This is our adult programme for students aged 19 and over for the academic year 2026-2027, however, we will be introducing an exciting new programme for 17-18 year olds for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Due to the complexity of Veterinary Nursing, the progression path in this course differs slightly, including a required 60 day placement alongside your study:
For those who are 16, we recommend pursuing an alternative year-long course, such as our animal management programmes, which will strengthen your skillset before further study in veterinary nursing.
Our Level 2 Veterinary Nursing course is a year-long programme designed for individuals aged 17 and older. As part of the course, you are required to find a 60 hour placement with a veterinary practice, providing hands-on experience.
Before starting this course, you must secure a 60 hour work experience placement with a veterinary practice, to complete alongside your studies.
