What’s it all about?

Your new BTEC Nationals in Applied Law offer a flexible range of qualifications that can be studied alongside other level 3 qualifications such as A levels or other BTEC Nationals as part of a larger programme of study, or as the main focus of study.

There will be a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are two main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external exams, internal assignments.

You will need 5 GCSE's at grade 4-9 including Maths and English Language

The course is taught by well-qualified and experienced staff. You will learn through a variety of methods including presentations, scenario based role play, project work and reports.

English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.

The sixth form day is 9am-4.15pm, Monday-Friday.

You will study each of your subjects for 4hr 30min per week, across three separate lessons. Your timetable will be determined by the combination of subjects that your study, which will be made available at the start of the academic year.

You are not required to be on campus when you do not have a timetabled lesson, although we would strongly recommend that you are. Making effective use of our learning facilities and resources during such study periods, will ensure that you keep on top of your work and make significant progress in your studies, not to mention developing important time-management, organisation and independent-study skills.

The units which you will study across your two year course are listed below:

Unit 1 - Dispute solving in the civil Law
Unit 2 - Investigating aspects of criminal law and the legal system
Unit 3 - Applying the Law
Unit 7 - Aspects of Tort

What’s next?

The qualification carries UCAS points and if it is taken alongside other qualifications as part of a two-year programme of learning, then it is recognised by higher education providers as contributing
to meeting admission requirements for many courses.

It will support entry to many higher education courses, depending on the other qualifications learners have taken.

The qualification can also support progression to employment directly, or via an Apprenticeship.
