The Level 3 Barbering covers all of the core knowledge and skills needed to become a competent barber, as well as giving the learner the opportunity to develop different skills from a selection of units.
You will study cutting, creating facial hair shapes, providing shaving services and creating designs in the hair.
You will need level 2 Barbering qualification or relevant prior industry experience.

Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods, including practical observations and online tests.
You will have an excellent experience and benefit from practical and theory lessons with an industry expert preparing you for the real world on completion of the course.
During practical lessons you will develop your skills in our state-of-the-art barbering salons, helping you to put your skills into practice in an industry setting.
During theory lessons you will be expected to develop your knowledge by doing group work, research, report writing.
Throughout the course, lecturers will assess your knowledge in a range of ways to ensure that you are progressing and where needed, additional support is provided.
You will need to a do a placement in a barbering salon 1 day per week.
This is a full-time course taking place Monday-Friday, including a one day per week placement, you will receive your timetable at the start of term.
This qualification is designed for learners who are looking to progress within the barbering industry and who already have experience or hold a Level 2 qualification.
The modules you will study on this course include:
- Providing client consultation services
- Cutting hair creatively using a combination of barbering techniques
- Designing and create a range of hairstyles to suit a client's facial shape
- Providing shaving services
- Colouring and lightening men’s hair
- Designing and creating patterns in hair
