Level 2 Barbering student, Hazel Littlemore, was placed first in the regional heat of the prestigious AHT (Association of Hairdressers and Therapists) skills competition.
The competition, which took place at the Federation Brewery in Gateshead, attracted students from 13 colleges across the North East.
Hazel won the Men’s Long Hair Blowdry category and will now compete in the national finals at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Mark Sowerby, Barbering Lecturer at Sunderland College, said:
“We are delighted with Hazel’s gold medal win in her regional heat. The AHT competition is a great opportunity for our students to build their confidence, experience working under pressure and showcase their talents in a competitive environment.”
Students from Sunderland College and Northumberland College recently went head-to-head in an inter-college barbering competition.
