Sunderland College’s Sports and Exercise Science team has teamed up with a local cricket club to offer students valuable coaching and works experience.
As part of the college’s 2021-22 works experience programme, students will undertake placements with Silksworth Cricket Club across areas ranging from junior coaching and supporting first-team players, to administrative duties.
The roles will enhance their CVs and will help them put the skills and knowledge learned on their courses into practice in a real-world sports environment.
Skills Development Coach, Callum Johnson, said: “We are very excited about the partnership with Silksworth CC. This will be an invaluable opportunity for our students to develop key industry skills and behaviours they need to succeed in the sports industry.”
A Silksworth CC spokesperson, added: “We are extremely proud to be working with Sunderland College. It is a fantastic opportunity for the club to work with our community and support local young people. We can’t wait to get started.”
