Sunderland College is welcoming back visitors to its campuses for the re-launch of its exciting in-person open events.
Prospective students will be able to speak to expert teaching staff, apply for a course and tour the College’s state-of-the-art facilities. There will also be support teams to advise on student finance and bursaries, careers, study support and LGBTQ+ support.
The College will host several open events at its City and Bede campuses for school leavers and adults interested in studying vocational, technical (T Levels) and A-level subjects, apprenticeships or part-time and short courses.
The in-person open events will adhere to strict safety measures to keep people safe. Visitors are asked to pre-register online prior to the event for a specific time slot so numbers can be restricted, to only bring one other person with them and to wear a face covering. In addition, there will be a one-way system in operation, social distancing in all areas of the college and rooms will be well-ventilated.
The College had previously been delivering its open events virtually, following the government’s lockdown restrictions last year, to ensure that prospective students could continue to plan their future.
Judith Quinn, Interim Deputy Principal for Curriculum at Sunderland College, said:
“We are delighted that our open events are returning to our campuses. Prospective students can once again explore everything Sunderland College has to offer and hear our specialist facilities can benefit your studies. We have taken every step to ensure visitors’ safety and have measures in place to create a safe and secure environment.
“We’re pleased to be showcasing our latest and future developments and investments, including our Digital Innovation Hub at Bede Campus, which support the College’s recent transformational growth and development and significantly enhance the student experience and learning opportunities.”
The first in-person open event of the year will take place at the College’s City Campus in the heart of the city and Bede Campus on Durham Road on Tuesday 11 May from 4.30 until 6.30pm. There will be additional open events for those interested in Adult, Higher Education and Access to Higher Education courses at Washington Campus on Monday 17 May starting at 4.30pm and a Health & Social Care, Sport and Public Services focused event at Bede Campus on Tuesday 8 June from 4.30pm.
Further dates will be announced throughout the summer.
