Sunderland College level 3 hair and media make up & Level 3 hairdressing students recently had the chance to develop their skills at a fashion show at the University of Sunderland.
The students were on hand to provide make-up and hair styles for the university students holding a fashion show. The show enabled the students to understand how to work on a fashion shoot and gave extra experience in how to help create looks for the designers.
Sharon Smith, Sunderland College Barbering Lecturer said:
“The students had a fabulous time creating looks and working alongside the university students. Each student was hands on throughout the show, giving a realistic experience of working in a fast paced industry and having to think on their feet. I was very proud that they all had a very professional attitude and worked really well under a stressful but realistic environment.”
Amanda Bell, Sunderland College Make-up Lecturer added:
“I was extremely impressed with the professionalism the students showed throughout the fashion show and am so proud of everyone who took part.”
The college hopes to have students involved in the event yearly so they can gain vital skills to help them progress in this industry.
Students from Sunderland College and Northumberland College recently went head-to-head in an inter-college barbering competition.
