Students raise money for the Niall Quinn Children’s Centre

Fantastic experience

Sunderland College students recently celebrated World Book Day by dressing up to raise funds for the Niall Quinn Children’s Centre.

The Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and level 3 Early Years Educators students dressed up as their favourite characters to promote importance of literacy and donated a small contribution to purchase resources for Niall Quinn play and learning environment during periods of illness.

The students have liaised with the children centre and a wish list was issued of possible resources to be obtained. To the value of £60, arts, crafts and play equipment was purchased.

Donna-Marie Marshall, Sunderland College Lecturer in Education and Care

“As a lecturer with an Early Years and Playwork background it was great to see how enthusiastic all the learners were that engaged with World Book Day, the costumes were great and the funds raised are going to a very worthy cause. Thank you to all who supported us in college.”

Sharon Thompson, Ward Sister at Niall Quinn Children’s Centre added:

“Thank you so much for the lovely donation, it was very kind of you all to think of the Niall Quinn Children’s Centre and the children and families that utilise it. The DVD’s, DS games, books and craft items will enhance the environment and help to make a visit to the Niall Quinn a more pleasant one for the children. Thank you for fulfilling our wish list.”
