Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone interested in completing an apprenticeship and earning while you learn. From advising clients to cutting and shaping facial hair, this Apprenticeship covers all the basics of barbering both in your chosen barbers and with the college’s very own barbers.

As an Apprentice, you will spend a lot of time on your feet.  You will assist senior staff while training as a junior barber.  Duties are likely to include, shampooing, conditioning and treating hair and scalps, cutting and styling hair, and how to dry and finish men’s hair.  You will also study barbering techniques creating basic patterns in hair and cutting and shaping facial hair.

Advanced apprenticeships take their learning a step further by developing their designs and techniques for patterns in hair, colouring hair using a variety of techniques and providing a shaving service.

To start an Apprenticeship you’ll need to be over 16 at the start and not taking part in full time education. For more information about our Apprenticeships call the Apprenticeship Team on 0191 511 6484 or email
