The course will help adult learners over 19 to progress to Higher Education and complete a degree. The areas that you might be progressing to in health care. The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Health will aid students to go onto careers in: Physiotherapy, Radiography, Paramedics, Midwifery. Dental Hygiene Therapy, Biochemistry, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Health, Children's nursing and other allied health professions.
You are able to apply for this course if you have any of the following:
4 GCSE’S at C or above and this must include English and maths

You will have an excellent experience and benefit from theoretical lessons and some practical sessions within science units. The aim of this course is to prepare you for university and your future career within healthcare.
There are clear links and examples provided within lessons, so that you are able to see how theory comes into practice. You will be assessed in various ways from essays, reports, posters, leaflets, presentations etc. This will allow you to explore various software, On this course you will experience a combination of teaching and learning styles as follows:
Classroom lectures
Workshop/Study sessions
Directed work with other students
Directed private study
During the course lecturers will assess your knowledge and learning, we will also ensure that additional support is provided where needed.
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills before you start the Access Diploma.
This is a a part-time course which is provisionally going to be delivered either on a:
Tuesday and Wednesday 9.30-2.30am
or Tuesday and Thursday 5.00-9.00pm
This course is designed to progress to university. The aims are that you will be able to:
- analyse practice.
- work collaboratively.
- gain theoretical knowledge.
- evaluate theories.
- look at the reliability of sources.
- give practical examples.

BioChemistry
Psychology
Professional Skills
Contemporary Issues in Health
You will also study a range of ungraded units which are Study Skills, English Language Writing Skills, English Language Comprehension and Higher Maths.
These units will help you to apply theory to practice to healthcare.
After the completion of this course you can progress to Higher Education and university.
