What’s it all about?

The T Level in Health offers an unparalleled pathway for students passionate about a career in healthcare. This qualification provides a robust foundation in essential healthcare practices, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students will engage in comprehensive learning modules covering person-centred care, communication, teamwork, and reflective evaluation, alongside core scientific concepts relevant to health.

The programme includes a substantial industry placement, ensuring real-world experience and application of skills. Specialisation options allow students to tailor their studies, such as supporting the adult nursing team, which includes assisting with clinical tasks, supporting daily living activities, and skin integrity assessments. This course is ideal for those who are eager to make a meaningful impact in the nursing profession.

You will need five GCSEs at grades 5-9, including Maths & English Language and Science.

Teaching will be a mix of classroom based delivery (around 80%) and will include practical delivery in our health hub and industry placement (20%). This will give you an opportunity to link theory to up to date best practice, providing our graduates with outstanding learning opportunities so that they can successfully progress to their chosen career of Nursing.

Assessment on the T Level includes externally set exams, an employer set project and synoptic assessments.

GCSE Maths and English are crucial for this programme, as they underpin many of the essential skills needed for a successful career in healthcare.
Maths skills are vital for precise measurements, dosage calculations, and interpreting data, ensuring patient safety and effective care. English proficiency is equally important, enabling clear communication with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals. It also supports the creation and understanding of critical documentation and patient records.
Together, these subjects provide a strong foundation for the analytical and communication skills required in adult nursing, ensuring students are well-prepared for both the academic and practical demands of the programme .

You will complete an industry placement during your two years of study. The placement will be around 45 days where you will be given the unique opportunity to work with an employer and develop career ready skills whilst you study.

You will complete 315 hours of industry relevant work placement within the health sector including hospital settings - this will help you 'stand out from the crowd' when you are applying for a place to study Nursing at university.

As part of this T Level you will benefit from the excellent links we have with regional and national employers in the Health sector, including the NHS.

This is a full-time course delivered over 2 years, including an industry placement.

Your timetable will be confirmed at the start of term.

T Levels are a new level 3 qualification, which are the equivalent to achieving 3 A-Levels and will be worth UCAS points.

For example, a T Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A-Levels at A*.

They will be recognised by universities and other education providers for students who wish to further their studies.

This T Level in Adult Nursing is specifically for those who wish to pursue a career in Nursing, the normal progression route following successful completion of this course would be onto a Nursing degree.

In year one, you will cover core healthcare content such as health and safety, providing person centred care, infection, prevention and control and key science concepts.

In year 2, you will complete the occupational specialism which is supporting the adult nurse. This will include the study and practice of clinical skills such as taking physiological measurements, assisting with skin integrity assessments, and supporting individuals to meet activities of daily living.

What’s next?

Upon completing this programme, students have a range of exciting opportunities. They can progress to higher education in health-related fields, such as nursing or healthcare management, at universities or colleges. Additionally, they are well-prepared for employment roles including healthcare support worker, senior healthcare assistant, or nursing associate within the NHS or private healthcare settings. Apprenticeships are another viable path, offering further specialised training while working in the healthcare sector.

This qualification not only equips students with practical skills and knowledge but also provides the UCAS points needed for university entry, ensuring a broad spectrum of future career and study options.
