To enrol on this course, you will require the following:

- A minimum of 2 GCSE's at grade 4 in Math's and English
- A 14-16 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment at Levels 1-3
- A Level 1 in Bricklaying

19+ please enquire Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for all workshop activities and needs to be purchased from the college's preferred supplier, as workwear will have the college logo on.

You will be assessed through both practical and theoretical coursework throughout the course. There is also an externally set knowledge test and synoptic practical tests.

During the course you will experience a combination of teaching and assessment methods, including:

- Classroom teaching
- Workshop activities
- Tutorials
- Directed study
- Learning Resource Centre and ICT work
- Work placement (where applicable)

A work placement maybe part of the course depending on age.

The aim of this course is to prepare people to enter the construction industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions.

Practical tests are based on the learner showing what they can do as an individual through the completion of the requirements of the course.

As part of the course, you will study the following modules:

- Principles of construction
- Building cavity walls
- Building solid walls and piers
- Constructing basic arches
- Setting out buildings

What’s next?

On completion of this course, you could progress to further study, such as our Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Bricklaying course.

Alternatively, you could apply for an apprenticeship.
