Who is this course for?
This is an ideal course for people who wish to seek training and a career within the Musical Theatre industry. This course will give the foundations to training in the 3 disciplines of acting/music/dance.
What do you need to apply for the course?
4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above including English Language. It is desirable if one GCSE is either dance, drama or music but it is not essential.
What are the key things you'll learn?
You will learn the principles of musical theatre. Examples of some of the units you will study over the 2 years:
- Group Performance Workshop
- Final Live Performance to an Audience
- Jazz Dance
- Acting Styles
- Singing Techniques
- Musical Theatre Techniques
- Investigating Practitioners’ Work
How you will learn
The course will be a culmination of highly practical sessions and academic sessions. Most units are internally assessed with a proportion being externally assessed.
Where could this course take you?
This course provides a good foundation in musical theatre. You will have the option of trying to gain employment at the end of the course or seek further training at HE level.
What costs will you incur?
You will need to provide your own paper and pens, suitable dance shoes will need to be provided by the student. You will attend the theatre frequently and this will be a combination of college funded, subsidised and student funded.
If you are aged between 19 and 23 years old (on the first day of your course) and do not already have a full Level 3 of higher qualification, you will not have to pay course fees. This may be different for learners studying on a course in the workplace.
If you are aged 19 or over, on the first day of your course, studying at Level 3 or above, you are able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the costs of your course, similar to arrangements for higher education students.
