Kate came to Sunderland College after leaving school to study a BTEC in travel and tourism. Through her work placement, she gained permanent employment as a rep for global travel company TUI. She stayed on at the College to study a higher education qualification as she knew that her lecturers would get the best out of her.
She described her time at Sunderland College as exciting, educational and worth it!
She said:
“I chose to study my HND at Sunderland College as I had been taught by the lecturers for a number of years, therefore they knew where I needed help and they encouraged me to do my best.
I decided to come to Sunderland College rather than university as the support was better, the course was cheaper and I still got the financial support that I needed. The College offered more of a support network than university, and the trips and visits really interested me.
The best thing about the course is the people and the places I got to visit as they really helped with my coursework.
I spent most of my days off doing coursework and using the facilities to achieve my goals and I believe they are better than most places.”
Kate progressed to top-up degree at Sunderland University and continues to work as a rep for TUI throughout the summer.
