Public and Uniformed Services student Katie is hoping the skills she has learned at Sunderland College will help her achieve her goal of joining the armed forces.

Impressed by the facilities at the college and the welcome she received, the former Oxclose Community Academy decided to apply after hearing positive reviews about the college.

“I decided to go to Sunderland College as I heard it was a good college,” Katie said. “The atmosphere around campus is amazing and the facilities are a high standard. The college provides you with everything you need.

“Everyone is friendly with each other and the tutors make you feel welcome. If you need any help, they are really approachable.”

The Public and Uniformed Services course gives students the opportunity to get involved in activities with the Army, Marines and other public services, access facilities including kayaking, surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking and orientation, as well as gain additional qualifications such as Sports Leadership and Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Katie added: “I am currently in the Army Reserves for the time being, my aim is to join the Regulars and the skills this course has taught me will help me follow my goal.”
