David has been with Sunderland College for over 10 years, working with sports students across all levels.
A qualified football and futsal coach, David says the best part of his job is helping his students progress throughout their time at college.
I have worked at Sunderland College for over 10 years, where I have planned, delivered and assessed across both Sport & Public Services working with
students on Levels 1, 2 and 3 in a variety of units and modules.
Alongside my role at Sunderland College, I have been proactive in keeping my CV up to date by completing sports qualifications including FA Level 2 Football, Level 1 and 2 Futsal, Level 1 in Professional Scouting and Level 1 and 2 Prozone Statistical Analysis.
My role involves planning, delivering and assessing students across Levels 1, 2 and 3 Sport. I am also involved in the external verification process for the Level 1 and 2 courses.
I graduated from university in 2009 and decided that I wanted to remain in the Sport industry and successfully applied for a job at the college as Curriculum Support Officer.
I then received my PGCE Post Compulsory Education and Training
and from then on I have developed both professionally and personally and enjoy working across various levels with a wide range of students.
Being able to inspire students to get the very best out of themselves on a daily basis and also seeing students develop long term.
I teach students who have joined us at Level 1 and to be a part of their journey to Level 3 has easily been one of the highlights.
I wouldn’t say I have a best moment but, but to see students arrive at a level, then then progress to a higher level, has to be one of the biggest positives we can experience.
Being able to have a positive impact on students from the minute they join college to the minute they leave.
Also, when students have a positive image of you and appreciate the help you have given them, makes the hours spent doing the job really worthwhile.
