Taking on an apprentice can make a big difference to your company and a week-long event is being held to help the region’s businesses find out more.

Starting on February 6 Sunderland College is hosting an open week at The Teleport, Doxford Park, to give employers the facts and information about apprenticeships and help overcome some of barriers that they face.

Dave Hall, director of work based learning at Sunderland College said: “Sunderland College works closely with employers to deliver training to help improve their business and delivering successful apprenticeship programmes is part of that.

“Apprentices can make a real difference but often business owners have misconceptions and don’t fully understand how they can really benefit them.”

Employers who work with the college, and apprentices, will be at the event to talk with businesses about their experiences. Sunderland College’s employment team will also be there to give individual advice on apprenticeships and other training requirements.

Dave Hall said: “This is a great opportunity for people to hear first-hand from other businesses and apprentices. The aim is to give the facts, dispel the myths, and help the region’s businesses find out more about apprenticeships and work-based learning.”
